IPTC and XMP are metadata standards used by many systems and devices to store data about digital assets. For example, these standards set a universally agreed way to transfer captions, keywords and other metadata between software produced by many different vendors.

When you import files into your Library they may already have some metadata. If that data conforms to IPTC or XMP most of it will be imported into corresponding fields in your IMS Library. A list describing the default mappings between IPTC/XMP and Third Light IMS is available in our Integration Notes.

XMP is the most current standard and is given priority. Support for older metadata standards with the Legacy keyword support - refer to Upload Settings for more.

The IPTC and XMP bindings are included for software developers and integrators and discussed in the Integration Notes. They may be left blank for normal use.

Unless you are already familiar with this concept and how it works please contact our Support team before proceeding.
