Metadata terminology Metadata is stored in fields, with names like Caption, Date Created and Keywords. The contents of these fields is metadata values. This section deals with updating metadata values. For details about how you can customise the fields available for the entry and display of content, please refer to Customise Metadata.

An entry is made in the Audit Log and a new version of a File is created automatically, when you change metadata content. A summary of the change will be displayed in the Audit Log tab in the File Console. Additionally a new version of the File is created and is displayed in the Revisions tab in the File Console.
