Your IMS Library can be used to store your watermarks and they can be applied to the thumbnail and preview images of all or selected Files, as required.

The scope of Watermarking

Watermarking can be applied at a number of different levels so there may be multiple places you will need to check  or adjust if you wish to make changes.

Add a Watermark

Upload pre-prepared watermark images and store them in the IMS Library as follows:

  1. Logon as an Administrators
  2. Select Tools > Watermarking from the main menu
  3. Click the Upload a new watermark button. The Upload a new graphic box opens
  4. Select Choose File to upload your watermark image

Colour

The watermark you use should be grey on a white background. When the file is uploaded its colour characteristics will be handled as follows:

  • Grey is rendered as translucent
  • 100% white is rendered as 100% transparent
  • 100% black is rendered as 100% opaque.

Tiling

The watermark will be tiled across the images and videos to which it is applied automatically, so you do not need to produce a repeating pattern in your watermark artwork.

Size

The recommended size for your image is 300 x 300 pixels. However, if a smaller image is used, it will be repeated as a tile across an image.

Default Watermark

You can use several different watermarks and apply them to selected Folders, Smart Folders or Collections. However, when you are assigning watermarking by Event, the Public Gallery or user, the watermark specified as the default watermark will be used.

When you have uploaded more than one watermark, you can specify which should be used as the default, as follows:

  1. Logon as an Administrators
  2. Select Tools > Watermarking from the main menu
  3. Locate the watermark you want to be the default and click the Make default button.

In both of these cases, watermarks will not be applied.

If you use any of the above options to specify that watermarks are not to be applied, watermarking will not be applied unless:

  • The settings in a Folder specify always
  • The settings in a Folder specify Use users settings and a user's account specifies watermarking should be applied
  • The settings in an Event or the Public Gallery apply watermarks
In all of these cases, watermarks will be applied.

    Watermark video streams

Apply watermark to Display Files Additional Display Options only

  6. Select the options you want
  7. Select Update User to apply the settings

If you use any of the above options to specify that watermarks are to be applied, the default watermark will be applied unless the settings in a Folder, Event or the Public Gallery specify never, in which case watermarks will not be applied.

If you use any of the above options to specify that watermarks are not to be applied, they will not be applied unless the settings for the IMS Library specify that they should be or, a Folder, Event or the Public Gallery specify always.
